Southern Shrimp Alliance
SSA needs a commitment from the U.S. shrimp industry to fund the litigation, legislative, and public relations initiatives that aim to preserve our threatened way of life. Currently, we have strong membership from each of the eight states. Each state also engages in fundraisers to bring in additional funds from the communities, businesses, and governments that rely on a stable U.S. shrimp industry. As a 501c(6), SSA’s annual tax return (IRS Form 990) is public information and shows where the money has been spent.

Contributions to the Southern Shrimp Alliance, Inc. are not deductible as charitable contributions on the donor's federal income tax return. While such contributions generally may be deductible as trade or business expenses if ordinary and necessary in the conduct of your business (a determination that should made in consultation with your tax advisor), any contributions made to the Southern Shrimp Alliance, Inc. during the period beginning October 1, 2007 and ending September 30, 2008 will not be deductible, as all contributions will be allocated to nondeductible lobbying expenditures of the organization.
John Williams, Executive Director of SSA, has renewed the organization's commitment to communicate better with the industry at large and its paying dues members. This will be done through periodic e-newsletters and informative memos sent via email and/or the U.S. Postal Service. We hope this will help keep the industry informed of the issues before the courts and Congress that affect how we do business and what SSA is doing to serve the industry.
