Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers

The Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers (TAAF) Program provides technical training and cash benefits to eligible U.S. producers and fishermen of raw agricultural commodities whose crops or catch have been adversely affected by imports of like or directly competitive commodities. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) administers the TAAF program, but the program has not been funded by Congress since 2013. When the TAAF program was funded, the Southern Shrimp Alliance successfully petitioned for the warmwater shrimp industry’s inclusion in the program, assisted fishermen in establishing eligibility for benefits, and developed materials for the technical training.
